What should my video be about?
It must make reference to Waterton to be eligible. It can be about anything from adventure to romance. It can be slapstick funny or introspective.
Does it have to be a professional quality?
Definitely not. Videos of your personal experiences in Waterton are what we’re looking for.
How long should the video be?
No longer than 5 minutes and 500 mb in size
What format should it be in?
MOV, WMV, AVI or MPG
Should it have audio?
If you’d like, but it’s not required.
Can I make a slideshow using stills and submit that?
You bet.
Anything else?
- you have to be over the age of 18
- anything crude or defamatory will eliminate your video
- your video has to have been shot in Waterton
What are the submission dates?
- videos can be submitted from June 06 – July 15, 2011.
- voting will take place from July 16 – August 31, 2011.
- winners will be announced on September 08, 2011.
- the prize must be used between September 16, 2011 and September 15, 2012.
Who gets to vote?
Viewers will be the voters, but they need to play nice. By all means, get your friends and family to vote, but they must do so from a valid email account. Any suspicious voting activity may result in your video being removed from the contest.

When you submit your video, you’ll need to complete a short entry form. We’ll need that info in order to accept your entry and have you eligible for the big win.

The Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce presents travelers from around the world the chance to win a fabulous weekend for two in Waterton Lakes National Parks in Alberta, Canada.
Everyone who has ever been to Waterton has a story. Why not tell it? Simply submit your video story about your Waterton Experience and you could win:
- one night stay at the Bayshore Inn
- one round of golf for two at Waterton Lakes Golf Course
- a Shoreline Cruise for two
- dinner for two at Vimy's Lounge and Grill
- breakfast at the Bayshore Lakeside Chophouse
- lunch at Zumm's Eatery
To get started, here’s what you need to do:
1. In a short video, tell us your Waterton story. It has to be true of course, but you can be as creative as you’d like.
2. We really want to know about your Waterton Experience. Tell us why it was unique. It can be about anything from adventure to romance. It can be slap-stick funny or introspective. We just want to hear your story because we love Waterton as much as you do.
3. You need to be over the age of 18.
4. Your story must make reference to Waterton to be eligible for submission.
5. Videos can be submitted from June 06 – July 15, 2011.
6. Winners will be announced on September 08, 2011.
7. You can add music to your video, but it has to be either your own composition or in the public domain, which means it can’t be copyrighted. If your selections are defamatory or contain any objective content, your entry will be eliminated.
8. Viewers will be the voters, but they need to play nice. By all means, get your friends and family to vote, but they must do so from a valid email account. Any suspicious voting activity may result in your video being removed from the contest.
9. When you submit your video, you’ll also need to complete a short entry form. We’ll need to have that in order to accept your video submission and have you eligible for the big win.
10. Your video doesn’t need to be elaborate or even polished, but it does need to be clean and free of anything defamatory or crude.

1. This contest is void where prohibited by Law. All Federal, provincial, state and local laws and regulations apply. By entering this contest, you warrant that you have read and agreed to abide by all contest rules and that you are not prohibited from participating in the contest. Participation in this contest constitutes your full and unconditional acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce, its, affiliates, employees and agents, which are final, binding and non-negotiable in all respect.
You agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce and its parents, employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives, advertising and promotion agencies and prize suppliers from any liability arising from or related to the contest, including without limitation: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the contest; (b) technical errors related to computers, servers, providers, or telephone or network lines; (c) printing errors; (d) lost, late, postage-due, misdirected, or undeliverable mail; (d) personal injury, death, and property damage; and (e) claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy. Further, participants fully and unconditionally release all claims for consideration, copyright infringement and all other claims of any nature relating to the use of their entry, name or likeness.

This contest is open to anyone over the age of 18 years of age. Proof of age and identity must be furnished upon request. Employees, agents, independent dealers and affiliates of Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce are not eligible to participate in this contest. Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, suspend, or amend this contest at any time for any reason. Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce further reserves the right to amend these contest rules at any time without prior notice, at its sole discretion. Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to disqualify any participant for any reason, including, but not limited to, violation of these Official Rules or infringement of the rights of a third-party.
3. TO ENTER
This contest begins at 12:00 a.m. MST on June 06, 2011 and ends at 4:00 p.m. MST on July 15, 2011 (“Contest Period”). To enter this contest, participants are asked to: (i) go to the www.mywaterton.ca and click on the MyWaterton Video Contest banner, which will redirect you to an internal page where you can enter the contest; (ii) participants will need to register on the mywaterton.ca website, including setting up a user name and password; (iii) complete the MyWaterton Video short entry form, including your video title, name, mailing address and email address; (iv) read the Official Rules and click the box acknowledging that you have read and agree to abide by the Official Rules; (v) upload a video of your Waterton Experience . In your short video, tell us your story - tell us why your experience was unique. Be creative and have fun!; and (vi) Videos should be no more than three (3) minutes in length and a maximum size of 30 MB. Video formats supported are MOV, WMV, AVI, MPG. The video may not contain any content, including, without limitation, copyrighted materials (including music in the background) or trademarks that are not owned by the participant. Any elements that appear in the video, including without limitation, images, music, audio, speech, or other audiovisual materials used must be entirely original, created, and performed by the participant, or must be in the public domain. Use of any elements that are not original or in the public domain will result in disqualification of the video, at Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce ‘s sole discretion. The video may not depict any individual or feature the voice of any individual other than the participant, unless the participant has obtained written permission from each person depicted or featured in the video. Upon request of Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce , the participant shall be required to provide Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce with a release form signed by any individual depicted or featured in the video, in a form and in substance satisfactory to Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce , in its discretion.
Submitted videos may be uploaded and featured on mywaterton.ca. Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce reserves the right, and by uploading your video you give your express permission, that we may disqualify, not post, and/or edit videos received, in its sole discretion. By submitting a video, participant irrevocably authorize Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce to utilize, anywhere in the world the video submitted, in whole or in part, for such purposes as Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce may choose, including, but not limited to, inclusion in publications of about Waterton Lakes National Park, advertising, promotions, trade presentations] or business uses (“Permitted Uses”). Without limiting the foregoing Permitted Uses, such authorization (i) applies to any and all media formats now known or later devised with which Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce may choose to use the video, and (ii) includes the right to use the video singly or in any combination, including in combination with text, photographs and/or other artwork created, manufactured or prepared by third parties. Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce may utilize subcontractors and other third parties with regard to the Permitted Uses. Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce is not obligated to use the video. Participant releases all claims for consideration, copyright infringement, or any other matter whatsoever related to Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce ’s use of participant’s video. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, participant hereby waives all moral rights he/she may have the right to assert (under law) in connection with participant’s video and/or their use by Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce .
By submitting an entry, participant agrees to abide by these Official Rules. Persons submitting entries under false pretenses will be disqualified. Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce is not responsible for telecommunications, network, electronic, technical or computer failures of any kind. Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce not responsible for any lost or misdirected mail sent by participant or Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce .
4. THE WINNER. Between July 16, 2011 and August 31, 2011, visitors to the mywaterton.ca will be directed to a location where they will able to vote on their “favorite” video. The video that receives the most votes through a public voting feature will be considered the winner. To vote, individuals must go to the mywaterton.ca website where they can vote on the videos. Voters may vote on any one video no more than once per 24 hour period, but can vote on as many videos as they like. On or around September 08, 2011, a panel of judges, selected by Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce , will determine who the one (1) winner will be from videos that have been submitted.
After the first winner is selected, an alternate winner will be selected. The alternate winner’s name will be placed in a sealed envelope. The sealed envelope will be held by Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce to be opened only in the event that the first winner selected is discovered to be invalid for any reason whatsoever or if the winner does not contact Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce or properly accept the prize within the time frame specified in paragraph 7 below. If such an event should occur, the person selected as the alternate winner will become the winner, subject to the same rules and conditions set forth herein. All results of the contest are final and binding. The judges’ determination is final and conclusive on all parties.
5. THE PRIZE. The winner will receive as a prize one night stay at the Bayshore Inn, one round of golf for two at Waterton Lake Golf Course, a Shoreline Cruise for two, dinner for two at Vimy's lounge & grill, breakfast at the Bayshore Lakeside dining room and lunch at Zumm's Eatery. Arrangements will be made through Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce. The prize must be redeemed within one year of winning the contest. If the prize is not redeemed prior to the date of the wedding, it will be forfeited by the winner.
6. Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute any prize. No more than the advertised number of prizes will be awarded. The winner is responsible for taxes any and all other costs and expenses not listed above. All decisions of the judges of this contest are final, binding and non-negotiable. No prize may be transferred or substituted
7. IDENTIFICATION OF POTENTIAL WINNER. Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce will notify the winner by email, and/or telephone on or around September 08, 2011 using the information provided on the entry form. Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce is not responsible for lost, stolen, late, or misdirected mail. If unable to make contact with the winner within ten (10) days after Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce’s first attempts to notify the winner, or if the winner fails to claim the prize in accordance with these Official Rules, Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce will award the prize to the alternate winner, as described in paragraph 5 above.
8. MISCELLANEOUS. By entering this contest, participants consent to Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce ’s use of their name, likeness, image and biographical data for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law. BECAUSE PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM PARTICIPANTS WILL BE COLLECTED BY ENTERING THIS CONTEST, PARTICIPANTS SHOULD REVIEW Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce’s Privacy Policy, which can be found at www.mywaterton.ca. By entering this contest, participant authorizes Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce to contact participant for commercial purposes via fax, telephone, or e-mail address listed on the participant’s entry form. There will be no use of participants name or other personal information for future commercial purposes except as in accordance with Waterton Lakes Chamber of Commerce ’s privacy policy. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, without giving effect to conflicts of law rules.
