Family owned and operated since 1922, Tamarack Outdoor Outfitters is Waterton’s premier outdoor specialist. We assist hikers and outdoor adventurers enjoy Waterton Lakes National Park by providing quality outdoor gear, experienced hiking guides and convenient hiker shuttle services. AN AUTHENTIC HIKING STORE This store is a major attraction in the Waterton community and offers one of the premier outdoor shopping adventures anywhere and is a “must stop” when in Waterton. The well stocked outdoor store is renowned for carrying a large selection of apparel, footwear, and general outdoor accessories and highlights the “latest fashions and innovative gear of many of the top brand name outdoor suppliers such as North Face, Patagonia, Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, Merrell, Salomon, Vasque, Keen and many others. Store is open seasonally from mid April to mid October. THE TAMARACK SHUTTLE The store is the meeting place for convenient hiker shuttle services that run daily throughout Waterton. We operate shuttle buses that can seat up to 24 passengers. Reservations are recommended as some shuttles fill up early. The most popular shuttle destination is the world famous Carthew-Alderson Summit trailhead at Cameron Lake, a 12mile/20km high alpine hike that returns to the Waterton townsite. It is widely regarded as one of the top high alpine day hikes in North America. Another popular shuttle is the Chief Mountain Shuttle and assists those hikers returning by boat from northern Glacier trailheads via Goathaunt, MT. It drops hikers off at the Chief Mountain Customs parking area and the trailhead for the Belly River, Elizabeth-Cosley Lakes, and Stony Indian Pass hikes in Glacier. It also is the connection point for the GPI East Side Shuttle services to Many Glacier, St. Mary’s, and the Going-to-the-Sun Road shuttle system. Shuttles run late June to October, depending on spring/fall snowpack and weather conditions. WATERTON OUTDOOR ADVENTURES Hiking guide services, offered through the Tamarack’s “Waterton Outdoor Adventures”, offers local, experienced, and licensed National Park hiking guides. Specializing in adventure travel and corporate groups, we also offer private day hikes, interpretive walks, and outdoor education services like photography workshops, flower walks, backcountry education hikes, and bear country basics. Reservations are required. LOCATION & CONTACT INFO Store, shuttles, and guide services are centrally located at 214 Mount View Road in alpine village of Waterton, which is located 5 miles inside Waterton Lakes National Park.
